College Scholarships

The Baltimore-Washington Conference will once again be offering college scholarships for the Fall 2019 semester. Students can apply January 3 – March 7, 2019 through an online application system. Scholarships are available to students attending or enrolling in accredited colleges and universities in the United States. Students must be an active member of a church for at least one year and be attending (or will attend) an accredited college or university within the United States full-time. Students will need to provide their official transcript (high school or college) and contact information for two church references (pastor and another member of the church). In addition, the student must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. For additional information and to apply, visit www.bwcumc.org/administration/local-church-resources/scholarships/.

Way Forward

Thursday, January 10, beginning at 6:30 PM there will be an informative video shown about our United Methodist “Way Forward” on issues of human sexuality. A Special General Conference will convene in late February to determine our United Methodist stance on issues related to those who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered. The video will provide good information on it all, and there will be a time after the video for questions and clarifications.

Berkeley Springs Center Christmas Social

Berkeley Springs Center Christmas gift items are being collected at the Center for Christmas gift bags for the residents. Gifts can be wrapped or unwrapped and are due to the Berkeley Springs Center by December 3. You may leave your items at the front lobby, with the receptionist or the Station One nurse’s desk. Some suggested items to give are Dove lotion, Dove Body Wash, Dove Shampoo, non-skid socks; hair accessories; Sugar free candy—no nuts; regular soft candy—no nuts; stationery and stamps; Word Search puzzle books; adult themed coloring books; tissues; snack size chips, cookies; ink pens; crayons, etc. Please see the bulletin boards for more detail. Bishop Easterling Holding Listening Sessions

Bishop LaTrelle Miller Easterling will be in the Western Region, for both the Cumberland-Hagerstown and Frederick Districts, on November 11 from 3 – 5 pm @ Grace UMC, 712 W Church St, Hagerstown, MD 21740-4560 for a “Listening Session.” There are 3 parking lots as well as on street parking available.
A Listening Session is an open forum for pastor and church members to come and share thoughts, questions, insights on all issues affecting the church and their church.
